InterNext is only a few days away so I wanted to share some quick tips that can make your Vegas trip better.

InterNext 2008 Las Vegas

  • Bring Vitamins and this is the only time of year I use hand sanitizer, drink water and then drink some more.
  • Bring the correct shoes there is always lots of walking in Vegas
  • Bring speakers no matter how you cut it someone is going to end up in a room playing mp3s thru their laptop its lame!
  • Identify yourself on the phone. Hey dude, bro or pulling what do you mean you don’t know whom this is we do 100448484 of joins a day line. Save me the guesswork and wasted conversation, be direct. Hello Derek *Dwreck* from WebcamCash here what’s going on, it works great.
  • Bragging about not hitting a seminar or not going to the show floor and doing all your business at parties isn’t, cool.
  • Say meet me here at a certain time rather than rely on your cell phone 100%. You may lose it, break it or forget to charge it.
  • Bring your business cards. A well known Webmaster once said to me with some sort of sick pride that he hasn’t brought cards to shows for the past year because, whatever. if they don’t know him by now or he doesn’t know them they aren’t worth knowing. YAH BULLSHIT I laughed to myself.
  • Do not get stuck in the trap of hanging out with the same 10 people. I know they are your BOYZ/GURLZ and you do a lot of biz together but reach out a bit people. There are some amazing people in this industry. My biggest *WHALES* I met thought word of mouth or introducing myself to them.
  • Have a bath or hit the spa! For once in your life take the time to enjoy a bath in the huge Vegas tubs and Detox.

You can read the full post and comments on GFY. I pulled out some notable mentions within the post, giving a little credit to the owners here.

  • VS_Jeff: Humidifier, if you are driving or have room in your luggage. And in addition to vitamins, try to bring something to prevent a cold…Zicam or Cold Eeze always does the trick.
  • Imortyl Pussycat: i always bring snacks for my room too. if you don’t take time out to eat or come back to your room wasted, trail mix is the thing to fill you up or to prevent a huge hangover.
  • Elli: Locate someone who has a car and take the 20 minutes to drive to the nearest corner store to buy a 12 or 24-pack of water bottles. It’s the same price as one bottle in the hotel! People will also be more likely to hang out at your room if they hear you have water.
  • Elli: For my feet I always bring a bottle of peppermint foot lotion. It feels soooo nice after wearing shoes all day!
  • Brandon99: Don’t forget about the asprin/ibuprofen bro!
  • Ycaza: Leave your wallet in your room, take only one credit card and one id with as little cash as you need
  • Chadknowslaw: Bring warm clothes. Las Vegas is fuck all hot in the summer, but that dry desert air is cold at night, and last year the temperature dropped down to 24F. One year there was snow. Don’t be a stupid tourist and pack only shorts and t-shirts.
  • Kristin: Drink lots of wheat grass the coming weeks and days before the show.

Overall stay social and seek out people’s faces you don’t recognize. Exchange cards, take some notes, and actually follow up with people. Retire early if you can, remember to eat, drink slow, and pace yourself. And remember taking some time for you, it can really help ease the show pains.

See you at the show, Dwreck.
