Download Putty : What Is Putty?
Make sure you download the putty.exe file from the Putty Website. Download it to your C:/ directory and click on it to start it.

* You may need to ask your hosting company to allow you to connect through to your account using SSH.

Once you know your servers SSH login information you just need to enter and save the data. In the first data field: “Host Name or IP Address” Enter in your SSJ host name, normally this is the same as your FTP host name. Click the circle button for SSH, which will select port 22. Now save your information by filing in the “Saved Sessions” data field. You can use your domain.com, server name, etc. Click the “Save” Button.

Double click the newly saved profile to get things started. From here you will need to type in your username & password. Once you do, you will come to the command line. Some users name need to type “bash”. (Bourne Again Shell. Provides many user enhancements)
