Once you have opened your First Adult Paysite, it may be time to look into Backend Software to open your own Webmaster / Affiliate Program. Opening an Affiliate Program is a huge step in any business plan. The extra Webmaster load, support, promotional materials and so on can be a great deal of extra work and money. Having your own Program could take away attention you once gave to Members, updates or support, so be sure it’s the right decision.
If you already own a Paysite and you are ready to take the Affiliate Program leap forward, then I recommend you take small and safe steps first. This is done selecting a Backend Product that will do most if not all of the legwork for you, with little to no out of pocket cost.
Use the Processor(s) Backed Affiliate Program:
Epoch/Paycom and CCBill are 3rd Party U.S. & EU Regional Credit Card Processors for the Adult Industry. Both of these processing services offer free backends that assist you with managing affiliates. They pay your Webmasters for you and first, then they pay you the difference. Both are trusted by Webmasters and both are about as easy as it gets with Affiliate Program management.
The Two Powerhouse Backends:
In the Adult Business, NATS and MPA3 rule the Affiliate Software World. Between them they help manage at least 500 Affiliate Programs. Both are solid products, both have benefits and drawbacks. Both are total package solutions that deliver everything you could want or need in an Affiliate Program backend.
Other Program Backend Solutions:
The Adult Affiliate Software Industry doesn’t have a lot of competition. You either code your own backend or you purchase someone else’s pre-made code. At least they aren’t all created equal. Some Affiliate Software Backends are encoded, and cost monthly, while others are open to be modified and are cheap.
Selecting a Backend Solution:
Take the time to evaluate and educate yourself on the differences between the Backends. Each provides a unique mixture of tools from Billing Solutions, Webmaster tools, and Cost. Not everyone needs a monster system to manage affiliates, while others do.
It’s important to select the backend affiliate solution that best fits your needs. Having to change products months or years down the road is a huge headache and can upset your Webmasters traffic flow.
I personally use NATS, but I have also ran MPA3, both Paycom and CCBills backends and I have worked with my in-house coded program solution. Each has its drawbacks and all have something unique that is powerful about them. It’s hard to recommend one solution over the other, as I have never found or seen Affiliate Software, which made “the difference”.
